when traveling south of your homeland in Scandinavia, you'd expect some better weather. When we first arrived in paris (where we had a stopover on our way to lisbon) it was snowing just as much as it was back home, I was quite surprised by this, but what surprised me even more, was the lack of food in the french airport. we were running around the airport for half an hour, trying to find a restaurant, but at last we had to give up and buy convenience-store sandwiches. Although the french airport was quite the disappointment, it all became worth it as soon as we stepped out of the airport in Lisbon and felt the lovely and lukewarm weather, while enjoying the sight of beautiful palm-trees in the dark of the Portuguese night. when we arrived at what seemed to be the middle of the city, and were on our way to the hotel, we were met by a sight not suitable for sore eyes (or very tired people) we had to walk up one of the steepest roads i have personally set foot on. upon further inspection we found out we only had to walk halfway up the road, as it branched out tu a small passage leading to a rather large set of stairs. we heroically climbed our way to the top of the stairs only to find more stairs waiting at the hotel. we got into the hotel and got our rooms, climbed to the 3'rd floor and was finally reunited with a bed. I personally slept like the fresh offspring of a human that night.
The first day in the city, we went exploring on a treasure hunt staged by our lovely teachers. it was really nice weather (especially compared to the danish weather) and we had a really fun time going up a hill to see an insanely beautiful view from the top of it.
when we had completed the treasure hunt, we went back to the hotel. As we all know, the best and worst ideas come from bored teenagers, and this trip had one or two of those great ideas. One thing that for sure was a great idea, it for sure also came from the minds of bored teenagers, but we decided it would be a good idea to shave my head in a truly pure and beautiful manner (depicted below).
as you can see it turned out great, and i ran around the entire week in Lisbon with this beautiful haircut.
the hotel we were staying at turned out to be fantastic, even though it had a lot of stairs. the hotel had happy hour from 18-20 a clock, and in this time you could acquire two beers for the price of one! this was a great deal, and it was utilised quite a bit on the trip.
in short, if you want to visit a beautiful city, with lots of hills and diverse people, you should definitely go visit lisbon.
